In this section, you can learn more about my extracurriculars, volunteer and work-related experiences over the last years.
In May 2023, the Green Office of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, in collaboration with other educational institutions organised its first Sustainable Careers Event. This event aimed to create connections between graduate students, professionals and organisations committed to collaborating and creating a more sustainable future.
As a volunteer for this event, I acquired three partner organisations and helped keep things in check on the day of the event.
In April 2024, the CBB committee organised a trip to Nice, France, for 25 MAA members, creating a unique opportunity to connect students with international organisations and institutions. Furthermore, the committee was responsible for organising a fun and education-based itinerary for the duration of the stay.
As one of the External Contact Persons, I acquired two partners in Nice, France, organised parts of the itinerary, incl. a historic city tour and sightseeing, as well as booking the flights for the group.
During the 2021 and 2022 Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort, I was part of their merchandise team. In 2021, I was positioned at the main Red Bull stall, selling Red Bull merchandise, and in 2022, I worked at one of the Formula 1 stalls, selling team-specific merchandise.
My daily responsibilities included but were not limited to assisting customers with locating specific products, processing payments, replenishing and monitoring the supply of stock, and providing excellent customer service.
Every academic year the Actie organises four events for the FGB Faculty at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. These events range from educational excursions to fun team-building activities for 20 to 30 students.
As a General Member, I helped organise four events, incl. an online escape room, an easter egg hunt in Vondelpark, a yoga and an indoor rock climbing session. For these events, my responsibilities ranged from coming up with event ideas, scouting locations and professionals to organising itineraries and overseeing the event on the day of.
The Illusie is responsible for organising events during the Introduction Week at Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam for the new 600 FGB Faculty students at the start of each academic year.
In preparation for the VU Introduction Week of 2020, I booked locations for activities, such as a location for a weekend getaway for at least 120 students for September 2020 and a location for a communal dinner in Vondelpark for as many new students as possible. Furthermore, I organised a two-day event in February 2020, hosting and conducting the Mentor Selections. For the weekly program in August 2020, I organised excursions and educational out-of-the-box lectures. Furthermore, I was responsible for streamlining the communication between the Mentors and the FGB Faculty throughout the Introduction Week.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic from March 2020 on, the previously-mentioned events had to be adapted to an online format and any large-scale in-person events, such as the communal dinner and weekend getaway, had to be cancelled.
